Fall Fellowship Idea: Recipe Swap

By Casey Bradshaw
I love any excuse to get together with good friends for a time of fellowship, food, and fun. Just recently, the ladies in my small group at church got together for a Girl’s Night Out. To change things up a bit, we decided to make the night a Fall-themed potluck. We had everyone sign up for different food categories: main dish, side dishes, appetizers, breads, desserts, and beverages. Each food item had to be something you would consider Fall-ish which means that we served soups, homemade breads, and many things featuring sweet potatoes, pumpkin, apples, and squash. Along with her food item, each lady also brought along a copy of the recipe she prepared for all of the other ladies. We had a fabulous time hanging out together and indulging in some delicious food, and at the end of the night we all went home with full bellies and a pile of Fall recipes that we can use throughout the rest of the season.
I loved this idea and hope to use it again! With the holidays fast approaching, I think this would be a great idea for opening your home to friends and neighbors. The possibilities are endless: a cookie recipe swap, Christmas holiday recipe exchange, Christmas candy swap, etc. I hope this inspires you to practice your hospitality and share those delicious recipes that you have on hand.
