My Soul Pants

by Trillia Newbell

Tonight was reserved for working on something—at the moment I can no longer remember what. I have, instead, spent the past 30 minutes weeping as I play and replay How Deep the Father’s Love For Us.

I’m not sure if I can put this into words really. We are all fighting not to be seen as “religious” and desire to be seen as authentic and real and relevant. As I type I continue to cry.

Christians: we know Jesus!

Who cares about relevance or blogging or proper grammar or being authentic? We know Jesus!

How amazing. This I do know with all my heart, His wounds have paid my ransom. His wounds have paid your ransom.

Why should we gain from his reward? There’s nothing in us that could qualify us to enter into God’s presence—but, Christian, we can!

What a gift!

We believe. God has granted us faith. Behold the man upon the Cross!

We can run to the throne of grace and receive—I will boast in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection!

My husband just walked in and asked what was wrong. I told him I was overwhelmed by Jesus. He smiled.

Read these words. The Father’s love is deep and penetrating. We can’t fathom the depths of it.

“How Deep The Father’s Love For Us”

How deep the Father’s love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom
