A Tough Anniversary

By Trillia Newbell

flowerTomorrow is the anniversary of my oldest sister’s passing. Last year, on August 7, my sister died of congestive heart failure. It was also her 39th birthday. I can’t adequately describe the sadness of that day or the months following. Death does sting. I wrote about it as I tried to sort through my thoughts and feelings. I wrote this short post, Death is Not Okay, on August 11, 2012. Today I still mourn her death. I still feel deep sadness for her sweet daughter, my niece, who is without her mother. Alicia was a dear friend. Alicia was sunshine to those who knew her. She had a genuine love for others. She carried her three younger sisters on her heart.

I don’t have many words, but today I am thankful for my sis and resting in my Savior.
